BATON ROUGE TO GO TO POLLS FOR STATEWIDE RACES, HOUSE SEATS — Voters in Baton Rouge will go to the polls Nov. 21 to help choose a Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, a member of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, and four state representatives. Even though Baton Rouge has very little on the ballot, it is an historic election, which will bring to a close the Jindal Administration.
The Democratic candidate for Governor, Rep. John Bel Edwards received 49 percent of the vote in East Baton Rouge Parish Oct. 24, while his Republican opponent, Sen. David Vitter, received only 11 percent. So Edwards is expected to easily carry the parish.
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell, who won 40 percent from East Baton Rouge in the primary, is also in a runoff with Jeff Landry.
Kathy Edmonston, who nearly won a seat on BESE outright, is in a runoff with Jason Engen.
Voters parishwide will vote on a proposition to give Central a portion of Industrial Area taxes.
